Accomplishments:
- Changed interior lights to more energy efficient formats - resulting in an energy savings of 40% to 72%
- Park Royal has invested in excess of $500,000 to retrofit over 3,00 parking lot lights. The annual power savings will be more than 1 million kilowatts annually.
- Reduced gas consumption with recommendations from Terasen
- Purchased two smaller, more efficient boilers in North Mall
- Purchased propane-powered maintenance and security vehicles to replace gasoline-based engines

Introduced recycling for cardboard and plastics for the tenants
- The organic waste pilot program was such a success that it will
become a permanent program available for the tenants. This will help to
reduce a great amount of waste that will be turned into composte.
Accomplishments:
- In 2007, at Park Royal, over 50 non-profit groups and organizations
raised more than $180,000 through events and fundraising in the
shopping centre. Community groups included the Lions Gate Hospital
Foundation, North Shore Crisis Services Society, Cancer Society
(Daffodil Sale), Gizeh Shrine, Air Cadets, Girl Guides, Canadian
Legion, Salvation Army (Christmas Kettles), Victims of Bangladesh
Cyclone (Red Cross).
Accomplishments:
- Green roof on Maple Leaf Storage facility
- Registered with the Sustainable Purchasing Network
- For 2008 washroom renovations, all water fixtures were replaced with "low flow" models, reducing water consumption. All fixtures are touchless, operated by a low-voltage electrical current which eliminates the need for batteries. Demolition was selective to minimize the need for new materials. All
demolition waste, such as drywall, was sorted for maximum recycling and
landfill diversion

- setup public recycling program with bright, new bins throughout the shopping centre
- setup tenant recycling bins for interested retailers
- installed sustainable seating area in Centre Court (South Mall) with furniture from Upholstery Arts
- recycling metal, newspaper, mixed paper, plastics and glass from shopping centre's waste stream
- new organic waste pilot program started June 1st, with three tenants: Limelight Florists, Startbucks and Opa Souvlaki

- All new washrooms have low flow fixtures
- Installed new cooling towers in North Mall that uses a "green" chemical closed loop system instead of water - this is what cools the mall
