master the art of relaxation

Along with the Holiday's comes unwanted stress.  Follow this guide to mastering the art of relaxation and you'll stay calm, cool and collected all the way in to the new year.

1.    What better way to relieve stress than to do some yoga!  Individuals who practice the art of Yoga boast that it provides a wide variety of health benefits.  Some of these benefits include improved sleep, increased flexibility, which decreases muscle and joint pain and better dexterity.  There are many easy ways to learn basic yoga and once you do you won't believe how relaxing it is.  The best way to learn yoga is to get involved in a beginner yoga class.  It is very important that you have the guidance of a trained instructor who can teach you how to do the poses correctly.  Always check with your doctor before starting any new type of exercise.

2.    Find a good read.  Reading relaxes the mind and a good book can take you miles away from your everyday life.  Indigo Books has recently launched their commitment to sustainably and carry a variety of books that are printed on recycled material.  Electronic books are also now available.  Probably the most sustainable way to get your hands on a new book is to take a book out of the library.  Borrowing library books fully encompasses the concept of reusing.

3.    Instead of a hot aromatherapy bath, which is quite unsustainable because of all the water that is used, give yourself an aromatherapy foot soak or facial.  Either one uses 80% less water, you get the effect from the aromatherapy and the best part is you will feel just as relaxed from the process.
