As part of Canadian Environment Week, Park Royal Shopping Centre hosted a Clean Air Day event on Wednesday, June 4, 2008.
Along with TransLink and Vespa Metro, Park Royal set up tables and tents behind the main bus stop, from 2 to 4pm, on the South Mall side to reward transit users for leaving their car at home.
Over one hundred customers attended the event and received gifts, information and a chance in two prize draws.
TransLink gave away buttons, transit maps and bus information, and free travel mugs.
Vespa Metro held a prize draw valued at $750 off a new Vespa or accessories. They had five scooters on site and invited customers to take them for a test ride.
Park Royal provided free "Doing My Part" eco-bags and also held a prize draw of a $200 Park Royal gift card -- redeemable at any Park Royal merchant store.
Cindy Papa, Director of Marketing and Sustainability at Park Royal, commented, "We are doing our part to celebrate of activities that care for and nurture our natural environment. Clean Air Day is meant to increase awareness and action on clean air, but we also wanted to show customers that there are many different modes of transportation available to them – whether they are on their way to Park Royal or to some other destination."
