get prepped for hibernation

Getting your home ready for the colder months of the year is just as important as getting your patio ready for summer.  Consider this: by taking these simple steps to fall/winter house prepping you can save energy which in turn will save you money.  Pretty tempting if you ask me!  Here are some quick tips:

switch to energy efficient bulbs

We've said it time and time again because it literally is the easiest most cost effective way to save energy in your home.  Every part of it is easy from getting the bulbs, which are sold everywhere regular bulbs are, to switching the light bulbs, and who can't do that??  Even better, these lights don't burn out nearly as often so you don't have to keep climbing ladders to keep your home lit.

put on an extra layer

If you're feeling chilly don't automatically reach for the thermostat.  Put on an extra layer.  Did you know that 80% of your body heat is released from your head and feet.  Try an extra wooly pair of socks or slip on a hoody and actually use the hood.  Finally, there is nothing better than curling up on the couch in a big blanket.
